rainy fall day

It's a rainy fall day here in Michigan!!  Good day to catch up on housework.  We don't have air conditioning and I am like the majority of people with MS and heat is my worst enemy.  I enjoy the fall and winter but it takes me awhile to catch up on organizing the house after a long hot summer.  Next summer we should have central air installed.

The furnace team will be here today to install the new furnace then come back in the spring to hook up the central air!  YES!!  But, I'm thinking they will stir up lots of dust from the 40+ year old furnace they have to remove.

Between having our 5 yr old granddaughter over this past weekend and having our great-nephew, who is in his wonderful 2s here on Monday I didn't get a lot done.  I say wonderful two's because he is so much easier to have over now than he was 3 months ago.  I need to use less baby gates etc to keep him confined.  And he is so dang cute!!

I did get one crocheting project done, a phone purse for my sister who lives in Morgantown, WV!  Home of the WV Mountaineers!  I hope she likes it.  From what I understand I can't sell any of the phone purses I make with logos on them like the WV University one I made on hers.  So, I hope she doesn't get too many requests for one just like hers. :-) I think it turned pretty good for the first try!

Oh, and I started another project, a scarf, which I have never used this stitch before so it was fun.  http://allicrafts.blogspot.com/2010/12/free-pattern-star-scarf.html  is where I found the pattern, I'll post a pic when I am done.

Also almost done with a jack o'lantern book mark.  Again, I will post pic when done.

Bella's hat

I sort of finished a hat for my youngest granddaughter, Bella, today.  I say sort of because I'm thinking I will make the poms on the hat all one color, the same color as the hat.  What do you think?

I bought her a winter coat at a resale shop that had an ink stain on it on the pink side so I also crocheted a flower to cover the ink.  The coat is reversible so she can wear the green side too.

Now I am wondering if I should crochet another flower for her hat.

Decisions, decisions, decisions!!  and leave the poms multi-colored??

After some thought I have decided to just do the poms in one color that match the hat.  And the finished hat will not have the flower on it, a friend mentioned she thought I had a great hat with just the poms and I agree!!  I hope Bella likes her hat and her "new" coat!!

daVinci Awards Ceremony

This is my friend and me leaving the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's daVinci Awards.  daVinci Awards website.  There were so many innovative ideas to help the handicapped become more mobile and able to do things that most of us just take for granted.  For example:  sending texts on the iPhone, walking, using the computer, fishing, swimming.  Check out their website and see the finalists and the winners!  The ones that did the inventing were the winners last night but many disabled persons will be winners for a lifetime because of people that spend their life researching and inventing items to make our life easier!  Thanks daVinci Awards for bringing them to forefront.

As we left the awards we were handed a gift bag with a couple goodies.  Both these items are manufactured in Michigan!!  I thought it was a cute way to promote Michigan products.  And good for a snack when we got home.

Thanks Michigan Chapter of the National MS Society for letting us be your quests at this great event.

Tonight I am going to a very dress up affair! The da Vinci Awards!!!

From  the Michigan Chapter of the National MS Society's website:  "Established in 2001, the da Vinci Awards (www.davinciawards.org) is a prestigious international forum of recognition for individuals, organizations and corporations whose innovations are designed to enable everyone to participate in and contribute to all aspects of society. The awards celebrate people who triumph over disabilities and those who have developed new technologies that enhance mobility. Past nominations have come from all over the globe representing virtually all areas and fields of assistive technology."

I will not be honored but I was given this opportunity to go by the NMSS because of my volunteer work.  Lots of perks come with volunteering and this is one of them.

My husband I went last year and I enjoyed them much more than he did so this year I have invited a friend who also has MS!  It should be fun, and I hope to have some pics to put on here tomorrow.

Other than that just been busy crocheting, enjoying family, and working out in the yard.  Working in the yard is a whole other post because my adventures there are not what I would like.
