I love this pattern from Snowcatcher!

Every Monday you can find a new snowflake pattern on her blog.  Here is the pattern for this beauty.

She crocheted hers in pink and white but I have been experimenting with Enchant yarn in gold.  I am thinking with the gold it would make it perfect for a 50th wedding anniversary gift.

Here is her version:

I added all the pics of my version just to show it in different light.  I also used a larger hook to make it more of a doily.

February 6, 2014 is the first official "Make a Snowflake Day"!  What do you plan to make?
I will be making another Sister Snowflake in honor of the day but I don't know what others I will make on that day.

Here are some that I have made in the last several days, included in this group of my flakes is one I designed and another that Snowcatcher designed for a group I belong to called Sisters of the Snowflake.  You can check us out here.

I found this one here.

And found this one here.

and another one here

This is Sister Snowflake that Snowcatcher
shared with only a group I belong to called
Sisters of the Snowflake
This is the pic on the Sister Snowflake pattern.
Pinning sure can make a difference as you
compare my pinning of this snowflake
and Snowcatcher's pinning.

This is my creation and named Sailor's Heart Snowflake in hone of my Dad who was awarded the Purple Heart during WW2.  You can find the pattern here, in and earlier post.
Cedar Rapids Snowflake,
found  here.

This snowflake is an adaption of a Star Dream Catcher.
I don't remember where I found the pattern but
all I can find is this for it but it is not free, you can find the offer here.
But while there I found a free pattern for another snowflake here.

And you can find the pattern for this one I made here.

I just had to add some hearts to my window because its February and February always means hearts to me!

Did the Christmas holiday find you crocheting or knitting more than you are used to? To alleviate some of the pain you may have had
Knitting Daily may have some help for you~

check it out
here.

I made one of my grand-puppies a sweater for the cold weather.  I wish I would have remembered to take a pic of it on Carrie.

Here are some doll clothes that were under the tree for  my 3 granddaughters.  I made them without a pattern but haven't wrote any notes.  Some are in my head still so maybe I can write them down.  My problem now is that all the dolls went home with the girls so I don't have a model to try them on.

BBB's (that's me!)  SnowFlake web searching

One of my favorite blogs to visit at least 2 times a week is Snowcatcher!  And my favorite day of the week is Monday.  Just when I think I am over the WWWOOOWWW.... factor with her designs she seems to sneak one in there and this past week was one of those designs that just makes me want to stop and do nothing else but this week's design.  But it will wait until January because I have 6 eighteen inch dolls that are waiting to be clothed for the grandgirls' Christmas presents.

Enchanted Forest

And today http://www.tangledhappy.com/ has snowflakes to share.

February has a special day called "Make a SnowFlake Day"!  This will be the first year for this special day so, watch for more patterns during that time.  You can be assured that I will be bringing more info as that day gets closer.  Maybe a new design, a vintage snowflake....   All snowflakes are special so we will just have to wait and see what February 6th brings for the first official Make a SnowFlake Day!

And if you are on Pinterest join me in sharing snowflakes. My pinterest board for snowflakes has lots and lots of free patterns that I have collected over the last several years.

Well, back to the dolls!  Today I am crocheting hats and scarves for them.  Maybe I will incorporate a snowflake or two into them.

Threaders, afghans and puzzles, Oh My!

I have struggled with using regular threaders and thin wire that I have bent in the middle to use as a threader but I think I have found an ideal threader.  The only thing it wouldn't thread is a regular sewing needle.

I am able to thread 4-ply yarn, crochet thread, and I even repaired this bag when the ribbon came unthreaded.

It is a Floss Threader for my bridge work.  It is called GUM Eez-Thru Floss Threader.  There are probably other brands out there. These are made in the USA!

They even thread seed beads on elastic thread.  See top threading on pic below.  The other beads are small also!

Let me know what you think if you try one out!  I'm sorry the pictures aren't clearer but the threaders are blue in the pictures.

I have this afghan started for one of my granddaughters.  I planned to give it to her for Christmas but looks like it might be done for her birthday.  The colors below are what I started with and then decided it was going to be too small with just 4 colors.  I then picked up the hot pink you see in the afghan at the left.  I am thinking of adding a bright green of some sort for the 6th color.  What do you think of the "jewel" colors with the pastels?  Probably can't get the true feel until I add a jewel colored green in there.

And the motifs on the left are going into an afghan I am making for the NICU at Hurley Hospital in Flint, MI.  We have formed a group on FB if you are interested in helping these babies and their families.
Wonderful things for Hurley NICU babies and their families.

I have been working on a pattern for the snowflakes you see below.  I really am in awe of people that write patterns all the time.  It is not an easy thing to do.   But I do like my creation and would like to share it with others.  It is a basic pattern that I added rows and/or changed just the last row to make it fancier.  Again, my love of crocheted snowflakes was flamed by Snowcatcher.  She has also been keeping me spellbound  weekly with the story of an accident she and her children were in years ago that she has written.

My husband got a 3D puzzle for Christmas from one of our sons.  It was interesting putting it together and then during the inauguration they kept showing the Capital Building and it looked just like ours!!

And then we did a puzzle he got for Christmas called Times Square.  It was over 3 feet long!

This mess, urr ummm, gathering of materials, lead to..

this!!

I call it my Festive Trio of Snowflakes.  I love it but my next trio of snowflakes will be called Elegant Trio of Snowflakes.  I find snowflakes both festive and elegant.  I'll be glad when I get my camera back.  I am not a photographer, far from it, but using the phone for a camera just isn't getting any great photos.  I left my camera in my sister's car while she was here in Michigan visiting.  Since she is from West Virginia my camera is either there or somewhere in between.  I am hoping the mailman brings it to me today.

I have been crocheting a couple hats this week also, a bonnet, which is not finished and a baseball cap for a newborn which is just the ultimate in cuteness.

The bonnet is my own design so it is taking a little longer, crochet a little bit, oops too large, oops too small, pull the stitches out and start again.  Oh, and don't forget to write and rewrite what that last round consisted of, increases, decreases, sl st or dc, work even!  You know the drill if you crochet or knit.

I still have the Giveaway going on but this will end Friday, August 31, 2012 at noon EST so hurry over to
for chances to win some snowflakes, a couple of hats and a 3D snowflake.  No cost to enter just Like, Comment  and Share the items you would like to win.

And while you are there check out all the items I have for sale and give me some ideas about items, sizes, or colors you would like to see offered.

Labor Day weekend!  Where did the summer go?  This is the time of year I get a little sad.  I was an Elementary School Secretary and I miss seeing all the new faces and returning students!  I tell myself every year I will go volunteer but I have only done that a couple of times.  So, just a reminder school is or will be soon in session so watch for all those students while on the roads!
